About us
Retail and consumer

The online grocery shelf, priced per unit.

Grocery pricing is decided in cents and pack sizes, and promotions drive a large share of volume. We capture online grocery shelves, normalise prices per kilo, litre or unit, and record every promotion so brand and retail teams can compare like with like.

Business challenges

What makes this industry hard to track.

01

Pack size and unit pricing

A 900g and a 1kg pack of the same product are not directly comparable. Unit price normalisation is needed before any comparison makes sense.

02

Loyalty and member prices

Many grocers show a standard price and a member price. Both need to be captured and labelled, or the price picture is wrong.

03

Store-specific ranges

Online ranges can vary by store and region, so a product's absence may be local rather than a delisting.

04

Promotion mechanics

Multibuys, 'buy one get one' and percentage discounts need consistent coding to compare effective prices across grocers.

FAQ

Questions about grocery and fmcg data

Can’t find your answer? Ask an engineer

Do you calculate unit prices for us?

Yes. We parse pack size and format from each listing and compute unit prices on a consistent basis. Where a listing states its own unit price we keep both, so you can see any difference.

Can you capture member or loyalty prices?

Where member prices are displayed publicly, we capture them alongside the standard price and label each clearly. We do not log into personal loyalty accounts.

How do you handle different stores of the same grocer?

We select the store or delivery area before capture and record it on every row. That lets you separate true delistings from local range differences.

Is this useful for brands as well as retailers?

Yes. Brands use it to check how their range is priced, promoted and presented at each grocer; retailers use it to benchmark against competitors. The fields are the same, and the analysis differs.
