Know where you rank when shoppers search.

Most online purchases start with a search box on a retailer or marketplace. We run your priority keywords on a schedule and record every result on the first pages, so you can measure your share of visible positions against competing brands.

How it works

Four steps from sources to signal.

STEP 01

Build the keyword set

We agree generic, branded and competitor keywords per market and language, weighted by importance. Arabic, Bahasa, Spanish and Portuguese variants are included where shoppers use them.

STEP 02

Run searches as a shopper would

Searches are run from the relevant country with a default sort and no personalisation, capturing the first one to three pages of results.

STEP 03

Attribute each result

Every position is tagged with brand, product, organic or sponsored status and page number, and mapped to your brand hierarchy.

STEP 04

Calculate share metrics

We compute share of search by keyword, category and retailer, with optional position weighting so a first-row result counts for more than a tenth.

FAQ

Questions about share of search

Can’t find your answer? Ask an engineer

Do you search in local languages?

Yes. We run keywords in the languages shoppers actually use, including Arabic, Bahasa Indonesia, Malay, Spanish, Portuguese, French and German. Results are reported by language so you can see where visibility differs.

How do you avoid personalised results?

Searches run from the target country without a signed-in account, using default sort and location settings. Results reflect what a typical new visitor sees, which gives a stable baseline for comparison.

Can share be weighted by position?

Yes. Alongside a simple count of page-one positions, we can apply a position weighting so higher placements contribute more. The weighting method is documented and kept constant over time.
